Overview

Manus is a general-purpose agent built by a China-based team (Monica / Butterfly Effect) for the global market, and it became a phenomenon right after launching in early 2025. Give it a goal — a report, a website, a data analysis — and it works autonomously on a cloud VM: decomposing the task, writing code, driving a browser, and delivering a finished result for your review. Its value is moving from "conversational AI" to "deliverable AI": it suits one-shot research reports, data processing, and prototype websites. Long tasks cost real credits, and correctness depends on how clearly the task is specified; compared with Kimi-Researcher it covers far more than research, and compared with AutoGLM it runs in the cloud rather than on your device. Note: the service is operated from overseas, and data is stored and processed outside mainland China.
