Overview

Tongyi Lingma is Alibaba Cloud's AI coding assistant, launched in 2023 and among the first coding assistants to reach scale in China. Shipped as IDE plugins for VS Code and the full JetBrains family, it covers completion, comment generation, unit tests, defect fixing, and cross-file edits, powered by the Qwen model family. Its strengths are broad IDE compatibility (JetBrains users in China have few alternatives) and mature enterprise customization. Compared with Qoder's full IDE, Lingma is a lighter plugin form factor without repo-level async task agents. It fits individual and enterprise developers who want AI assistance inside their existing IDE at low cost. Data stays in Alibaba Cloud's mainland data centers; there is no international version.
